Welcome to 19th Annual Conference & Exhibition of the Special Libraries Association - Arabian Gulf Chapter (SLA-AGC)

On behalf of the SLA – AGC Conference Committee I would like to extend our sincere thanks and gratitude to Ankabut and Masdar institute for sponsoring the 19th Annual Conference of the ALS Arabian Gulf Chapter.

The 19th Annual Conference will be organized in Abu Dhabi, UAE  from 23-25 April, 2013, under title of “ the Future of Professional: Break the no longer traditional profession and tune in to the future of digital professional environment”.

The SLA conference represents the most important IT event in the GCC countries to be held every year for practitioners and academics in the Information domain. It will provide a great opportunity to discuss key issues and topics, facilitating communication and networking, and cooperation between them.

Keynote Speakers

Ann Wolpert.
Ann Wolpert is Director of Libraries for the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.  She oversees the Institute’s distributed library system, which includes extensive physical and digital collections in formats and fields of relevance to MIT, the Institute Archives and Special Collections, Academic Media Production Services, a fee-for-services unit, and DSpace@MIT – MIT’s digital repository.

Wolpert is active in the professional library community.  She has served as president of the Association of Research Libraries (ARL) and currently chairs ARL’s Scholarly Communications Steering Committee. She is a member of the Board of Directors of the Boston Library Consortium and the Norman B.

Leventhal Map Center of the Boston Public Library.  Wolpert serves on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Library Administration, the Board of Advisors of the Simmons College Graduate School of Library and Information Science Ph.D./MLIP program, and the Project Euclid Advisory Board. She is past-chair of the Council of the Inter-university Consortium for Political and Social Research, and was recently appointed to the National Research Council Board on Research Data and Information.
